KMPH Special Assignment: Wayward Shopping Carts - KMPH.com
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Some of us are guilty of doing it - leaving our shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot or in a parking spot instead of putting the cart back in the cart corral.

It may seem harmless, but it can end up costing you.

In fact, one local man says he makes a living fixing the damage caused by those left-behind carts.

We busted people in the act of leaving their shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot, and learned why some people do it.

We also spoke with managers at several stores, who say it's part of their workers' jobs to go and collect the shopping carts in the parking lot every so often.

But one grocery store employee we spoke with says they just don't want to say anything that could drive away customers.

They say if you ask the employees you'll get a much different story.

Shopping in the Sunshine State

Famed for its many theme parks and fabulous beaches, Florida is also becoming something of a shopper’s paradise. From high-end malls and large outlet centres, to antiques shopping districts and downtown areas lined with eclectic boutiques, you really can shop till you drop when you book holidays to Florida from Cosmos Holidays.

Another advantage is that the British pound generally holds a pretty solid exchange rate against the US dollar, so there’s good value for money on top American brands while shopping Stateside. The climate is another bonus – no trudging around crowded streets in the rain for bargains here! Florida makes shopping a pleasure, and here are three reasons why from Cosmos Holidays:

Outlet stores

For many shoppers, the promise of high-quality designer merchandise at low prices is too irresistible to resist. Orlando, in particular, boasts many huge outlet malls – the most famous being Prime Outlets, conveniently located only minutes from Universal Studios and just 12 miles away from Disney. DKNY, Coach, Ralph Lauren, Nike, and Calvin Klein are just some of the stores you’ll find here. With many outlet malls offering an outdoor setting with palm trees scattered throughout, you’ll get a true Florida experience and a feel for the climate.

Malls

Shopping malls are what America does best and Florida is no exception. The Florida Mall is perhaps the best known of the 8 or so huge malls in the area, and features 270 shops – including 4 department stores! Ever popular with locals and tourists alike, you can choose from fabulous fashion and exceptional eateries. Conveniently located just minutes from Orlando International Airport, International Drive, Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios, you’ll find everything you could possibly need in Florida Mall’s 1.9 million square feet of shopping!

Flea markets and boutiques

If you’re looking for bargains, there are plenty of flea markets scattered throughout the theme park areas of Kissimmee and Orlando. The oldest and best-known of these is the 192 Flea Market. You can choose from jewellery, watches, electronics, shoes, gifts, toys, crafts, clothes, cosmetics, luggage, handbags and sunglasses – and much, much more. And what’s more, most items are on offer at very low prices – sometimes up to 75% off the normal RRP you’ll find in the malls.

Cosmos Holidays is one of the largest and most established brands in UK tour operating. You can find more information including our Orlando holiday guide and Florida deals by visiting www.cosmos.co.uk
