Chennai, May 21 (PTI) Prices of Urad dal, wheat and Sooji declined while all other commodities remained unaltered in the wholesale foodgrains market here today.
Urad dal moved down by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 5,000 from Rs 5,200 traded lastweek.
Wheat also lost ground by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 1,850 from its previous close of Rs 1,950.
Sooji(90 Kg.) declined by Rs 50 to Rs 1,900 from Rs 1,950.
The following are the wholesale rates of various agri- commodities today (in rupees per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Tur dal Rs 6,500, urad dal Rs 5,000 moong dal Rs 6,300, gram dal Rs 5,400, sugar Rs 2,950, wheat Rs 1,850, maida (90 kg) Rs 1750, sooji (90 kg) Rs 1,900.

Singapore's wholesale trade up - AsiaOne
Singapore's domestic and foreign wholesale trade increased year-on-year, according to a report released today by the Department of Statistics.
Compared to the same period a year ago, domestic wholesale trade in first quarter 2012 grew by 3.4 per cent. Excluding petroleum, overall domestic wholesale trade declined marginally by 0.7 per cent. After adjusting for price changes, domestic wholesale trade registered a decrease of 3.9 per cent over first quarter 2011.
Meanwhile, foreign wholesale trade grew by 12.7 per cent year-on-year. Excluding petroleum, foreign wholesale trade rose 5.5 per cent. After adjusting for price changes, foreign wholesale trade increased 8.6 per cent.
The food, beverages & tobacco sector reported the largest year-on-year increase (13.9 per cent) in domestic sales among all wholesale sectors. The ship chandlers & bunkering and petroleum & petroleum products sectors also recorded growth of 11.5 per cent and 8.5 per cent respectively, but their sales declined by 4.4 per cent and 6.2 per cent respectively after removing price effect.Other sectors that experienced year-on-year increases in domestic sales included telecommunications & computers (5.6 per cent), timber, paints & construction materials (5.2 per cent), industrial & construction machinery (1.9 per cent) and household equipment & furniture (1.3 per cent).
In contrast, the chemicals and chemical products, electronic components and general wholesale trade sectors reported declines of between 6.2 per cent and 12.6 per cent in domestic sales compared to first quarter 2011.
Meanwhile, ompared to the same period a year ago, the telecommunications & computers sector registered a 21.5 per cent increase in foreign wholesale trade. The transport equipment, food, beverages & tobacco and industrial & construction machinery sectors also reported higher foreign sales of between 10.6 per cent and 14.1 per cent.
Positive growth was also experienced in the petroleum & petroleum products (21.1 per cent) and ship chandlers & bunkering (13.5 per cent) sectors, due largely to higher prices compared to a year ago. After removing the price effect, foreign wholesale trade volume of the petroleum & petroleum products sector increased by a smaller 6.1 per cent while that of the ship chandlers & bunkering sector declined marginally by 0.5 per cent.
The general wholesale trade and chemicals & chemical products sectors reported smaller growth of 5.0 per cent and 1.3 per cent respectively while the household equipment & furniture sector experienced a marginal decline of 1.8 per cent over first quarter 2011.
The Wholesale Trade Index (WTI) measures the performance of wholesale trade activities and are presented at both current prices and constant prices. The indices at current prices measure the changes of sales value which can result from changes in both price and quantity.
