China's e-shopping market to be world's biggest - Daily Pioneer
The China Business Development Report Forecast (2011-2012) was released this week by the National Academy of Economic Strategy under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Daily reported.
The report, however, said that the thriving online market was not enough to cover up the problems in the general circulation industry.
Jing Linbo, vice-president of the organisation, said the reasons behind this were enterprises scattered with low concentration, less competitive market, lack of theoretical research, and the need for improvement of personnel training.

Shopping with Flair at new Shoppe Flare - the price is right - Main Line Media News
“Uh, did you mean to spell it that way?” I asked the owners of the new Shoppe Flare in Paoli when I stopped in the other week, lured by the snazzy “S F” logo.
It turns out the apparent misspellings of both “shoppe” and “flare” are intentional; they’re part of the store’s "branding strategy."
Intrigued, I looked up “flare” in my smart phone’s thesaurus.
Three synonyms are listed: “brief blaze,” “flash” and “beacon.”
O.K. I think I get it, particularly the beacon thing.
My brief tour of the premises confirmed it. With its bright and bountiful array of gifts for new brides, bambinos, bachelors (of arts & sciences) and babes, this new beacon of a boutique lights up its little strip mall corner, former home to the Pretzel Factory near the Paoli Wawa.
The store is the second fashionable foray of Wendy Belle, owner of the similar Bella Boutique in Newtown Square.
Joining forces with her is Kelly Prevost, former Academy of Notre Dame guidance counselor and super scrap booker.
The er, shoppe, specializes in monogramming, preppy-printed stationery, and other illuminating goodies. It opened April 15, just in time for spring – the season of gifting celebrations.
Prices average $20 to $50. “If we keep things reasonably priced, they’ll sell quickly and we can keep bringing in new products,” explains Belle. Continued...
Parking charges at shop precinct - Bury Free Press
PARKING charges could be coming to a shopping precinct on Moreton Hall.
To deter all-day parking, charges could be introduced after a period of two-three hours in the Lawson Place and Tallou Court car parks, off Symonds Road.
Michael Bacon, chairman of the Moreton Hall Residents’ Association, said complaints had been made about the car parks ‘always being full’.
He said some users parked there and walked into town, while some workers who car-pooled met and left additional vehicles there.
Of the charges, he said: “It did seem that it was a workable solution in that it appeared we didn’t need to do anything if we were parking there for a few hours and there was going to be provision for people who work in the shops and went to the community centre – it seemed to tick all of the boxes.”
“If it wasn’t free for at least that, I think local businesses would suffer,” said resident Claire Havers.
John Geoffery, 64, also from the estate, worried the free period could soon be reduced.
He said: “Why penalise people for enjoying the day?”
Frederica Mitchell, 54, from Moreton Hall, said: “I think at peak times maybe they should charge.”
“People shouldn’t park out here and walk into town because it takes the availability away from people who need the services – I think paying to park after two-three hours is quite reasonable,” said Gemma Ginns, from Bury St Edmunds.
Lizzie Monteith, who works on the estate, said: “I come up here all the time and never have a problem parking.”
“It would probably affect me coming here,” she added.
A spokeswoman for St Edmundsbury Borough Council, which owns the car parks, said: “Officers have been in discussion with ward members about this issue and options are being drawn up.
“It is hoped that proposals will be circulated for consultation soon.”

Barbara Lafleur's Naked Shopping Spree Attracts The Eyes Of The Law (VIDEO) - Huffington Post
A nude woman who calmly walked into two New York businesses this week shocked employees and attracted the gaze of more than one startled shopper.
Temperatures may have only been in the 60s in Saratoga Springs on Tuesday, but that did not stop 49-year-old Barbara Lafleur from stripping down to her birthday suit while she went shopping along Route 67, authorities said.
"It was bizarre. It was a very bizarre case. We've never had anything like this happen," Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy III told The Huffington Post.
Lafleur's first stop was Curtis Lumber, where surveillance cameras captured her strolling casually through the store. Contacted by HuffPost Friday, store manager Bob Eakin said he was no longer allowed to comment on the incident. In an earlier interview with the Times Union, Eakin said Lafleur asked a couple of employees what time it was, told them to "Have a good day," and then walked out.
"No one wanted to say much to her," Eakin told the newspaper. "It's not a situation you want to be involved in."
After leaving the lumber yard, Lafleur allegedly walked a short distance to a Stewart's Shops convenience store, where police say she again did little to protect the modesty of the shopping public.
"The clerk said, 'Excuse me, ma'am, did you know you have no clothes on?' and she said, 'Oh yeah I'm totally fine with that,'" Murphy explained.
Stewart's Shops spokesman Tom Mailey said the manager of the store was initially concerned about the woman.
"When something like that happens, I think your first concern is, is something wrong, so he chatted with her briefly and [then] asked her to leave," Mailey told HuffPost.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office was called and the woman was picked up and taken for a mental evaluation.
"A psychiatrist examined her and said she is perfectly fine, so that was a different kind of response than we had anticipated," Murphy said. "She was not on any drugs or medications we are aware of."
So why the nude shopping spree?
"She is just a person who believes in the freedom of nudism. That was her explanation," Murphy said.
Lafleur was released pending a future court appearance. If convicted on a misdemeanor charge, she could face a fine and a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail.
"This [incident] was a first for us," Mailey said. "I'm probably not in favor of it happening more, but it certainly has created some noise, that's for sure."

THE Lanes Shopping Centre in Carlisle has won a marketing award for using local people in an advertising campaign.
Commercial director David Jackson and marketing manager Janet Murray collected the award at a dinner in London.
Marketing experts from across the retail property industry were celebrated at the annual shopping centre marketing awards, organised by British Council for Shopping Centres.
Janet said: “We initiated a campaign using local faces to reflect our retail brands and create a clear identity for The Lanes, producing a set of commercials that were eye-catching, retail focused and unique to Carlisle.”
The feedback from the BCSC marketing awards said the campaing showed; “strong involvement with retailers and encouraging performance in both sales and footfall”.
It added: “Using store managers in the TV adverts to promote brands is truly collaborative. The inclusion of external observations from other business shows the impact and a noticeable difference locally.
“And rarely do you see this level of participation or collaboration with retailers when putting together a marketing campaign.”
The award was presented by rugby player Austin Healey.
Joe Hendry, leader-elect for Carlisle City Council, said: “I’d like to pass on my congratulations to The Lanes in achieving this nationally recognised marketing award.
“Collaboration with their retailers and local businesses has proven to be a success for all concerned. Their innovative approach should be commended, well done to The Lanes.”
Last week, The Lanes retailer Debenhams announced it was planning a multi million upgrade to its store, due to begin on May 28.

Car parking cost ‘is putting off shoppers’ - Evesham Journal
Car parking cost ‘is putting off shoppers’
10:00am Saturday 19th May 2012 in News
THE cost of parking in Pershore is stopping people shopping in the town according to a pensioner.
Joan Marchant says despite the introduction of a new loyalty card, which aims to encourage people from the town and nearby villages to shop in Pershore, the cost of parking is putting people off.
Mrs Marchant, of Defford, said: “They are trying to encourage people in Pershore to shop, but these little shops are being hindered by the parking prices. It just seems very sad. They should do some offers, especially when there are events in the town.
They are shooting themselves in the foot.”
Christine Baxter, parking services manager for Wychavon, said: “We strongly support the local economy and we have made many concessions to parking charges to support local businesses.
“We have done this when there have been major works in town and at Christmas and have done this in consultation with local businesses.”
The loyalty card has 10 stamps which must be filled by at least five different businesses. When the card is complete it should be posted in one of the boxes at the Town Hall, Three Little Pigs or Blue to be in with a chance of winning the monthly prize draw.
