A COUPLE charged over the killing of a security guard at an ice-cream store will remain in prison.
They did not apply for bail when they appeared in a Sydney court today.
Adrian Gallaher, 32, from Randwick and Lana Avrashkova, 27, from Maroubra, are charged with the manslaughter of 69-year-old Hans Schulz, who died after he was attacked at Wendy's ice-cream kiosk at Broadway Shopping Centre last night.
Mr Gallaher is charged with killing Mr Schulz by punching him, while Ms Avrashkova is charged with killing him by kicking him in the head, court papers showed.
The pair did not appear in Newtown Local Court where their case was mentioned.
Mr Schulz, originally from Germany, suffered serious injuries in the attack, which was witnessed by two children aged five and three.
He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Magistrate Margaret Quinn adjourned the matter to Central Local Court on June 26.
